Health & Wellbeing Programs for Schools
Sensitive to the beliefs, traditions and cultures of our diverse community, all yoga and mindfulness classes conducted through KinKou Yoga provide health and wellbeing programs based on continuing research into the physical and mental benefits of yoga exercises and mindfulness practices. In addition, all KinKou Yoga classes and programs are trauma informed, taking into account the possibilities of a vast range of life experience of our students.
School Yoga and Mindful Schools programs can be implemented separately in schools or combined to create a truly comprehensive health and wellbeing program aiming to create a
FOCUSED, CONNECTED, RESILIENT and CONFIDENT school community.
Kindergarten to year 6
Games, stories and creative imagination ensures younger students are kept engaged, while age-related appropriate information on health and wellbeing is provided to older students
Partner and group exercises add to the fun of School Yoga for all age groups, acknowledging the need and desire for social connection that children and teens innately feel
Years 7 to 12
A clearer understanding of what yoga is and HOW it helps, understanding the benefits of TRUE self-care, helps teens remain engaged in their practice.
Encouraging a more contemplative and breath-centred practice while building on confidence in more dynamic and challenging poses.
With yoga’s non-competitive spirit along with our consideration of visual and other sensory support needs, including trauma informed practices, we are truly inclusive of all children in the group.
